Clinical Handover and Patient Safety
Structured clinical handover as a patient-safety process in the Irish healthcare context
NMBI · Nurses and midwives
Part 11 of the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011, which deals with maintenance of professional competence, has not yet been commenced, so NMBI does not currently enforce a mandatory CPD hours requirement. NMBI ran a pilot Professional Competence Scheme, is now revising it, and expects to publish the finalised scheme in November 2026.
