CORU · Health and social care professionals

Ethics and Professionalism Courses for Health and Social Care Professionals in Ireland

Every CORU registrant must achieve at least 30 CPD credits in every 12-month period, with one hour of new or enhanced learning equal to one credit, whatever their work situation. CORU checks compliance through random audits, in which selected registrants submit a CPD record through the Registrant Portal.

What CORU expects

  • The requirement is a minimum of 30 CPD credits in every 12-month period, and one hour of new or enhanced learning equals one credit.
  • An audit CPD record has four parts: implementation of learning, evaluation and reflection, a review of learning needs for the next 12 months, and planned learning activities.
  • Audit periods are set by profession, and selected registrants have 30 working days to submit their record once notified.
  • Non-compliant registrants are included in the next audit, and repeated non-compliance may lead to a fitness to practise complaint of professional misconduct.
