About this course

Remediation is not a box to tick; it is targeted change that a Board can see and rely on. This course shows practitioners how to diagnose the real gap, plan focused remediation and present evidence that their practice has changed.

The course defines remediation, when it is needed, how it relates to insight and reflection, and what it can and cannot achieve. It then shows how to diagnose the gap: starting from the concern, mapping it to the standards, avoiding diagnostic mistakes and getting an honest external view.

Building a targeted plan covers evidence-capable objectives, choosing activities, timeframes and costs, choosing providers wisely, a worked example and a template. Remediation under Board restrictions covers how restrictions are framed, nominating education and educators, supervision, mentoring and audits, and monitoring.

Later sections deal with building an evidence portfolio, writing the reflective practice report, reports from supervisors, mentors and auditors, common weaknesses, showing change is sustained, applying to change or remove a restriction, when remediation is not working and looking after yourself.

What you will learn

  • Explain how remediation differs from ordinary CPD, from reflection on its own and from punishment
  • See how the setting, whether a notification, an employer process or a restriction, shapes what is required
  • Pin down the exact gap behind a concern and link it to the standard it falls short of
  • Set objectives you can prove you have met, and pick activities that actually target them
  • Nominate education, educators, supervisors, mentors and auditors the way Ahpra expects
  • Assemble a portfolio and a reflective report that show change, not just attendance
  • Prepare an application under section 125 to vary or end a condition or undertaking
  • Keep up the change, and your wellbeing, after the formal requirements finish

Who this course is for

  • Practitioners with conditions or undertakings requiring education or remediation
  • Practitioners preparing a response to a notification
  • Practitioners preparing for a panel, tribunal or review
  • Supervisors, mentors and auditors working with a practitioner
  • Practitioners who want to address a gap before it becomes a concern

How the course works

  1. After checkout the course is added to My Courses in your account, so you can start straight away on any device with a modern browser.

  2. Move through 6 sections (28 lessons in total) in your own time; lessons open in sequence and the player remembers where you stopped on that device.

  3. Each section ends with key points and prompts for reflection. Your notes can be downloaded as a Word course pack or printed for your portfolio.

  4. Sit the 15-question assessment at the end. Score 80% or more (12 of 15) to pass; answer options are reshuffled if you retake.

  5. Complete the reflective account and feedback to finish. Your certificate of completion shows the estimated learning time (about 2 hours), and you record the time you actually spend in your CPD log.

Questions about this course

Will this course satisfy an education condition on my registration?

Not automatically. Education under a restriction usually has to be nominated and accepted by Ahpra or the Board first. The course explains that process; check before enrolling.

What is a section 125 application?

Section 125 of the National Law allows a practitioner to apply to a Board to change or remove conditions or to change or revoke an undertaking. The course explains how to prepare a strong application.

How is remediation different from CPD?

CPD maintains and develops competence generally. Remediation targets a specific identified gap and must show that the gap has been addressed.

Does the course include a remediation plan template?

Yes. It includes a worked example plan and a template you can adapt.

What evidence do I get when I finish?

You receive a certificate of completion stating the estimated learning time, and you can download a course pack holding your learning record, a revision sheet and your own reflections. Your CPD log should show the time you actually spend.

Does completing the course satisfy a condition or undertaking?

Not automatically. Where a Board has set education as a condition or undertaking, the course usually has to be nominated and accepted first, so check with Ahpra or the Board, and your legal adviser or defence organisation, before you enrol.
